Abandoned Dog Gul Was So Hungry She Ate Something That Wasn't Food
Gul was discovered in an isolated and remote forest region in Bursa, the story of how she ended up in such a desolate area is unknown.
It is conceivable that she was abandoned by a neglectful family, a tragic fate that befalls many animals who find themselves lost and alone.
Alternatively, she might have been relocated by the local authorities after receiving complaints from residents about stray dogs, a scenario that sadly occurs all too frequently in many communities.
When Gul was discovered, she had a tight, tangled mess of thin rope wrapped around her neck, so constricting that it left painful impressions on her delicate skin.
The compassionate individual who found her acted promptly and with great care, gently untangling and removing the string to avert any further harm or potential injury.
Gul required medical attention for a severe wound on her head that had become infected.
The exact cause of the injury remains unknown.
It could have resulted from an attempt to escape a challenging situation, a confrontation with another dog, or it might have been self-inflicted due to excessive scratching.
Gul was suffering from mange, a condition that had stripped away her fur and spread across most of her body, causing intense itchiness that could have driven her crazy.
Fortunately, she received treatment promptly, which helped to alleviate her discomfort and made her feel more at ease.
The kind person who found Gul was not expecting to. And being unequipped, they scrambled around to find something to use as a makeshift lead.
Gul was more than happy to allow this lead to be tied around her, and she went to the car happily. She was used to people for sure.
Once in the car, Gul settled into the backseat with ease. As they drove, the person who found her couldn't help but notice her gentle nature and the way she seemed to trust humans implicitly.
Gul was very underweight, and while sometimes this can be due to disease, in her case, it was indeed a result of not having enough food.
In her desperation to quell hunger pains, she resorted to eating non-food items.
This is a something we've sadly observed many times in abandoned dogs.
Distressingly, when Gul went to the toilet, her stool was full of soil, revealing that she had been eating it in her attempts to survive.
A little while later, when Gul's head wound was healed, her mange had gone, and she regained her normal body weight, she was the dog she should always have been.
Her fur shone in the sunlight, and her eyes sparkled with a new-found vigour.
Her playful energy was infectious, and she bounded around the garden with the joy of a dog reborn.
The transformation was remarkable; she was no longer the frail dog she was when found in the forest.
Instead, she exuded confidence and happiness, eager to explore the world around her and shower those who cared for her with affection.
It was a testament to her resilience and the love she had received during her recovery. Gul became the vibrant and spirited dog she was always meant to be.
Gul's situation has become critical again as her sponsor can no longer support her, putting her in danger once again.
Ensuring Gul's safety is imperative.
We have launched a new initiative in Ankara, which you can learn more about, and we are eager to include Gul in this program for her protection.
Currently, we lack the necessary funding for her spot, but starting in June, I will be organizing regular fundraising efforts on her behalf.
If you can, please consider sponsoring her from just £5 per month.
