“All Muslims Hate Dogs” The Lie That Destroys Compassion
Every single day, we receive messages claiming that “all Muslims hate dogs.”
It’s an ugly, ignorant statement and it simply isn’t true.
Not only is it deeply insulting to millions of kind, compassionate people, but this kind of rhetoric also directly harms animal welfare. It divides, it distracts, and it destroys the collaborative spirit needed to protect the very dogs we’re all fighting for.
The Reality in Turkey
Dog Desk Animal Action works closely with rescuers, vets, and volunteers across Turkey. These are people who spend their days feeding, treating, and saving dogs from unimaginable suffering. They are teachers, parents, students, workers, ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
And here’s the truth that never gets shared by those pushing hate: the vast majority of Turkish people are against the government’s plan to slaughter stray dogs.
In fact, 85% of people in Turkey oppose the proposed mass killing of strays.
That statistic alone destroys the narrative that “Turkish people” or “Muslims” as a group are cruel to dogs. The truth is the complete opposite, people are standing up, often at great personal risk, to protect the animals around them.
The Harm of Hate
When people repeat sweeping statements like “all Muslims hate dogs,” they’re not helping dogs they’re feeding division & ultimately harming dogs. That division makes it harder for rescuers to be heard, for campaigns to gain traction, and for international supporters to work together effectively.
It alienates the very rescuers who are risking everything to feed and protect dogs in Turkey. It discredits their work and paints them as enemies when they are, in fact, heroes.
This kind of rhetoric doesn’t save a single animal. It just replaces compassion with contempt.
The Truth We See Every Day
We see people who love dogs so much they go hungry themselves to feed them.
We see volunteers taking in the sick, the injured, and the abandoned with no funding, no safety net, and no help from authorities.
We see kindness, courage, and determination in the face of cruelty and apathy.
So when we hear messages condemning entire nations or faiths, we know how wrong they are because we see the truth every single day
A Call for Unity
If you love dogs, then you already have something powerful in common with millions of people in Turkey. We must stand together against cruelty not turn against one another.
The fight for animal welfare is not about nationality, religion, or politics. It’s about compassion.
And compassion knows no borders.
Let’s stop the hate, and start standing together, for the dogs who depend on us all.
