Concerns Raised Over Conditions At Palma Animal Shelter
Workers at the Son Reus animal shelter in Palma have raised concerns over staffing shortages, inadequate resources and conditions they say are affecting both employees and the animals in their care. The UGT union has called on Palma City Council to address working conditions at the facility, while concerns have also been raised that some kennels do not adequately meet animal welfare needs. Around 100 dogs and cats are reportedly being cared for at the shelter while awaiting adoption.
Interesting, in Chile those sterilization programs have been carried out for many years, where the municipality applies for funds to perform sterilizations in the commune free of charge... it is an excellent program for canine and feline population control and for reinforcing responsible ownership.
