A Dog Left Behind
In January 2022, a woman reported that a dog had been left behind by his owners and was dying. He was wasting away, ignored and unnoticed, his body little more than skin and bones.
This was no street dog who had known only hardship. He had been a pet, once cuddly and loved, before being abandoned when he became ill.
Decomposing but Alive
He was nothing but skin and bones.
This was not a street dog who had never known care. He had been a pet once, cuddled, loved, and a part of someone’s home. Yet when illness struck, he was abandoned.
Six Months in Hospital
He was admitted to a veterinary clinic in Izmir. The diagnosis was leishmaniasis, a cruel parasitic disease that can destroy a body from the inside out.
He stayed there for six long months, fighting for his life. The clinic staff managed his pain, and gave him the chance he had been denied when he was left behind. Slowly, against the odds, he began to recover.
A Turning Point
When the day of his discharge finally came, the transformation was astonishing. He had healed, regained strength, and most remarkably he had kept his gentle, cuddly nature.
Since that day, he has never suffered with illness again.
A New Life
Today, he is loved as “the dearest of them all.” To see him now happy, healthy, and adored is to see a miracle in motion.
