Saving Betty
Betty was found clinging to life, her condition critical.
She had been brutally attacked, suffering multiple stab wounds, shattered legs, a fractured skull, and numerous deep cuts.
In a desperate bid to save her, she was rushed to our veterinary clinic, where our team of dedicated professionals worked tirelessly to provide the urgent care she so desperately needed.
Betty's story unfolded during a tense period in Turkey, as legislation targeting banned breeds was being implemented.
The atmosphere was charged with animosity toward bull breeds, a sentiment that had been fueled to ensure the law's passage.
Betty's injuries raise questions—were they the result of a hate-fueled attack, or did her owner, overwhelmed by the financial burden of compliance, resort to such a drastic measure?
To meet the new legal requirements, Betty needed to be spayed, microchipped, and muzzled, expenses that many owners found prohibitive.
Unfortunately, some lacked the desire or means to provide these necessities, leaving dogs like Betty in vulnerable positions.
Betty has made remarkable progress in her recovery journey, both physically and mentally.
In this image, she is on her way to the vet for a final check-up and to undergo her spaying procedure.
At our facilities, every dog is routinely spayed or neutered as part of our standard care protocol.
Betty is a beloved resident of the shelter, living under a special license due to the ban that prevents her from being homed.
Alongside other breeds facing similar restrictions, she enjoys a lifetime of care and comfort in an environment where her happiness is prioritized.
It's unfortunate that she won't experience life with a family of her own, but the shelter ensures she has everything she needs to thrive.
Ending her life because of this ban situation would be neither moral nor ethical, especially when her contentment is evident.
The focus remains on providing her with a fulfilling and joyful existence, recognizing that her well-being is what truly counts.
