Saving Tailor
Tailor is a young male dog who came to us with a fractured leg. His journey began on the streets, where he was born and lived at a garbage dump.
Despite the tough conditions, Tailor received care from a dedicated community carer but they faced financial challenges & asked f we would help him.
Community carers are truly remarkable individuals who selflessly dedicate their time and energy to caring for stray dogs.
Despite their incredible commitment, they often face challenges due to limited resources. This was certainly the case with Taylor's community carer.
Recognizing the need for support, we were delighted to step in and provide the assistance required by way of taking Tailor under our protection.
Our veterinarian decided to use a plaster cast to repair Tailor’s superficial fracture.
This method is less invasive compared to surgical options, such as fitting a plate, and can lead to fewer complications.
Although the recovery time may be longer, this procedure minimizes stress and risks associated with surgery. The plaster cast supports natural healing while allowing the bone to mend gradually.
Tailor adjusted impressively to having the cast, which was a relief.
His willingness to walk on it without any difficulty highlighted his ability to adapt to the new situation.
It was heartening to see him embrace this change with ease and continue his daily activities with a positive attitude.
I was very concerned about Taylor's response to being in the clinic.
He was a street-born dog who had never been in a building before.
Thankfully, although a little anxious, he accepted the situation without any problems.
His initial hesitation was understandable, given his unfamiliarity with enclosed spaces.
The staff at the clinic were gentle and patient, which helped ease his anxiety.
After a few weeks of diligent care, the moment finally arrived to remove the cast.
It had served its purpose effectively, ensuring that the healing process was on track.
Although Tailor was still experiencing a slight limp, our vet assured us that it was just a temporary condition.
With time and a little bit of patience, Tailor's gait would return to normal, allowing him to enjoy his usual activities again.
We were relieved to hear this positive news and grateful for the expert care that had brought us to this point.
A few short weeks later, we were overjoyed to see that our vet's prediction was accurate.
Tailor's limp had disappeared, and he could walk normally once again.
After Tailor was neutered, we arranged for him to travel to Ankara for a final health check.
Soon, he will be joining Sean at the pension, and we couldn't be more excited for this next chapter in his journey!
