Saving The Stray Dogs Of Turkey From Culling
World Stray Animals Day 2025
Turkey's recent amendments to animal welfare laws have led to the authorization of euthanizing stray dogs. The Interior Minister's directive to clear public areas of these animals has been issued despite the lack of shelter facilities. Unfortunately, healthy and non-aggressive dogs are being culled. No dog is safe. A whistle-blower told us that they were instructed to kill animals already in a shelter to make room for new intakes.
One municipality that we know of is relying on leftover food from restaurants, cafes, and shops to feed hundreds of dogs brought in off the streets. This is not an appropriate strategy. This approach is problematic because it depends on an inconsistent supply of human food that lacks the necessary nutritional balance for dogs. Dogs have specific dietary needs that differ from humans, requiring a diet formulated to provide the right balance of nutrients for their health and well-being. While using surplus food might seem like a practical solution, it fails to ensure that these animals receive the consistent and appropriate nutrition they need.
We have a way of doing things better but we need your help.
The parcel of land adjacent to the shelter project is being made available and can accommodate up to 200 additional dogs. On this property, these dogs will have a safe and secure environment where they will receive care from skilled and compassionate staff.
Their lives will be saved but we need help to care for these additional dogs. We are a very tiny organisation which operates hand to mouth.
Every contribution makes a difference, and right now, your support is more crucial than ever. With an additional £2,000 needed each month to provide a nutritious diet for the growing number of dogs under our care, we find ourselves in a challenging situation. Despite the admirable efforts of Kibble Club, which thrives on small monthly contributions, the gap remains significant. Each £2 donation plays a part in the larger mission—a mission to ensure that no dog in our shelter goes hungry.
Our current fundraising activities, including auctions and raffles, have not been as successful as hoped, leaving us struggling to fulfil our current commitments.
We appeal to your kindness and compassion. If you haven't joined Kibble Club yet, please do. Your £2 a month might seem small, but when combined with others, it helps us keep these dogs healthy and safe. We must act, for their lives depend on it. Will you be part of our mission to save them?

If you are unable to commit to £2 a month but would like to help save the life of a stray dog, we have a fundraiser specifically for this purpose where you can make a one-off contribution. You can find it here. You can also make a monthly contribution here if you would prefer.
Your support, no matter the amount, will make a significant difference in providing care and shelter for these poor dogs. Every contribution really will save lives.
Thank you very much for reading this, for helping & caring about the poor stray dogs of Turkey. We appreciate you & your kind heart
Before you go would you kindly subscribe?
We don’t spam mailboxes, have two subscription models, one free & one paid & either would really help the dogs.
