Should We Be Exposing Government Funded Animal Cruelty?
I was genuinely disarmed recently by a comment left about us on another rescue organization's timeline. Although they generally commended our work, they were upset by our efforts to combat government-funded animal cruelty.
To be honest, I was a little taken aback.
The post that caused the upset was about the mass loss of life in Gebze, where thirty dogs and fourteen cats were killed by municipal workers.
These animals were placed in black bin bags and thrown into a skip.
When discovered, some of them were still breathing, while others had tragically suffocated to death. The situation was hideously inhumane & needed to be challenged.
The incident at Gebze sadly was not an isolated one. Similar loss of life, has been reported in Kastamonu, Osmangazi, Kütahya, Ceylanpınar, Mamak, Erzincan, and Konya.
These heart breaking events are being largely ignored by the international community, which makes it even more crucial for us to raise awareness.
By shedding light on these issues, we can begin to address the root causes and work towards preventing future tragedies.
It's essential for the global community to not turn a blind eye, as ignoring these occurrences only perpetuates the cycle of suffering and injustice.
Social media is an unparalleled platform for raising awareness.
It offers a powerful means to amplify your voice and advocate for these dogs. They cannot communicate their experiences to the world or fight for their right to life, but you can.
Through social media, you have the ability to speak up for them, share their stories, and inspire others to join the cause.
Use this tool to make a difference and give a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves.
We don’t just expose & challenge suffering.
Engaging with positive content is essential for maintaining good mental health, and you can discover plenty of that through all the Dog Desk Animal Action social media accounts.
We help sick and injured dogs, and their stories are incredibly uplifting as they journey back to health.
We also share how people achieve positive outcomes for at-risk dogs, even in the most challenging circumstances.
We understand that you may be curious about why we don't solely concentrate on sharing that specific content.
The reason is that we urgently need your support to combat the abuse. We need to talk about the cruelty with you or you would not know it is happening .
Our fortunate position allows us to engage with several kind mayors who are willing to welcome us into their offices. This gives us a valuable opportunity to discuss and promote animal welfare practices, urging them to provide the best possible care for dogs in their communities.
Having a strong community backing enhances our chances of being heard and influencing positive change.
Alone, our efforts are limited, but together, we can make a significant impact.
Let's join forces to address the pressing issue of abuse, ensuring our collective efforts lead to meaningful progress.
We cannot help them alone!
All the dogs featured in this blog are alive because of our advocacy. Please join us & help us save more vulnerable animals
