Why Was Sally Having Problems Walking?
Mustang Sally was found as a little puppy on the street, struggling to walk and suffering from mange.
A kind-hearted community carer took her in, hoping to find her a loving home.
A mutual friend shared Sally's video with me, and, worried about her mobility issues, I reached out to see if the community carer would agree to transfer Sally into our care.
The community carer kindly accepted our offer, and while she took care of Sally and began treatment for her mange, our coordinator made arrangements for Sally to be transferred to our vet in Ankara.
The collaboration ensured that Sally received immediate attention and the best possible care for her condition.
With the carer's compassionate involvement and the coordinator's efficient management, Sally's journey to recovery was well underway.
Sally embarked on her journey to Ankara at the same time as Stella, the sighthound who was dealing with a severe knee injury.
Their arrival at the clinic was smooth and uneventful, a testament to the careful attention and safe driving of their driver, who is passionate about animals.
This compassionate care ensured that both Sally and Stella reached their destination without any issues.
Our vet in Ankara conducted a series of tests on Sally to evaluate her overall health and determine the issues with her legs.
He referred her to an orthopaedic surgeon, who diagnosed her with hip dysplasia and a foot fracture that had healed improperly due to the lack of medical attention while she was living on the streets.
Despite these issues, it was reassuring to find that Sally was in good general health.
Some time later, Sally transferred to a caregiver in Ankara, the same one who looks after Bobby, Luis, Noah, and Volky.
She settled in quickly and soon became a favourite among all the humans working at the facility.
Her warm nature made her a standout, and she quickly formed strong bonds with everyone she met.
Sally doesn't just adore people and other dogs; she has a special affection for cats too.
Just look at her here, taking a nap while snuggling with her cat friend.
Have you ever seen anything so adorable?
Sally's situation is a testament to the importance of timely intervention.
Her arrival into our care was a pivotal moment, saving her from a fate that many in her original location may not escape due to recent events in Turkey.
I'm filled with gratitude that Sally is now secure and thriving, yet my thoughts are continually with the numerous other puppies who remain at risk.
This situation underscores the critical nature of our mission, reminding us of the need to persist in our efforts to rescue and protect as many vulnerable animals as we can.
